Starved Rock Kennel Club (SRKC) offers Conformation Classes (dog show handling), Obedience Classes (Puppy, Novice, Beginning Advanced, Open/Utility, and Proofing), Star Puppy Program and Canine Good Citizen (CGC) course.  All classes except Star Puppy/CGC are offered every six (6) weeks year round and are one hour in length.

COURSES:
  • CONFORMATION - Showing your own dog at dog shows - or would like to?  Learn and understand the basics of competing at a dog show.  SRKC's classes prepare both the handler and the dog to compete successfully in the show rings.  Handling is a process of trial and error and many, many hours of practice!!.  Our classes will allow you to work on proper stacking, gaiting and presentation of your dog whether a novice or someone already experienced.  Mondays 6:00-7:00pm
  • PUPPY CLASS - Puppies eight (8) weeks up to six (6) months of age are eligible for this class.  This class teaches socialization, beginning simple obedience, and the handler skills necessary to raise a well behaved canine companion.  The class is structured with the really young puppy in mind and provides both floor work and information important to the owner. Star Puppy program is offered individually as an added feature of this class (separate billing)  Mondays 6:30-7:30 pm.
  • NOVICE OBEDIENCE CLASS - Dogs six (6) months of age or older can join this class.  It is designed for beginning dogs and emphasizes the skills that form the foundation for essential Canine Training that will produce a well behaved canine companion,.  Dogs passing this class may take the Canine Good Citizen Course (CGC) offered twice yearly by SRKC.  Mondays 7:30-8:30pm
  • BEGINNING ADVANCED CLASS - This class is open to those who graduate from the Novice Obedience Class or those that show that they have the basic skills taught in that class.  This class teaches off-leash work, introduces Rally and Agility, and starts the participant on Open/Utility work.  Beginning jumping and retreiving are also taught.  Mondays 8:30-9:30pm
  • OPEN/UTILITY/PROOFING CLASS - This classes offers the advance student one-on-one instruction in Open and Utility as well as Proofing for the Novice, Open and Utility Competition.  Students will work with a number of aids to improve their skills in all of these areas.  Mondays 8:30-9:30pm.

  • CONFORMATION:  $80 for 6 weeks of classes - Punch card is issued and can be used for up to one year.
  • PUPPY/NOVICE:  $80 for six weeks of class.
